Catalog description
This course is the second course in a two-course sequence in the Civil Engineering Program. Students will build on the work they completed in CEIE 490 . Teams will finalize design solutions, study constructability, evaluate cost, and consider the social, environmental, and sustainable impacts of their designs. Each student will demonstrate an understanding of the engineering design with an iterative, creative, decision-making process in which the basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering sciences are applied to convert resources into solutions. Student design must identify opportunities, develop requirements, perform analysis and synthesis, generate multiple solutions, evaluate solutions against requirements, considering risks, and make trade- offs, for the purpose of obtaining a high-quality solution under the given circumstances. An oral presentation, technical report, and technical drawing documenting the students’ solution is required at the completion of the project. Offered by Civil, Environ & Infrastr Engr .
