Catalog description

This course covers the fundamental principles of landfill systems, including the design of landfill liners and covers, waste settlement, and sustainable landfill management. Students will learn how to develop and evaluate landfill system designs, including selecting appropriate geomaterials, designing composite liners, predicting leachate and gas migration, and integrating monitoring and maintenance strategies. The course also emphasizes understanding the fate and transport of contaminants, methods to minimize environmental impacts, and best practices for long-term landfill performance.
