Catalog description
This course introduces the profession of civil engineering, with specific emphasis on modern challenges and solutions that are internal and external to the domain of civil engineering. Topics include broad coverage on technology-driven solutions to traditional engineering problems such as geodesy and georeferencing; global positioning systems; remote sensing; infrastructure security; civil engineering; big data; structural health monitoring; and cyber-physical systems. Using the principles taught in the course, for the term project students will develop solutions to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to Transform the World.
