Catalog description

Provides definition, classification and practice of ecological engineering and ecosystem restoration. Describes general system ecology, ecosystem restoration, and the utilization of natural processes to provide ecosystem services to society and benefits to nature. Provides students with a systems-oriented perspective on environmental studies. Students will study principles in general system ecology and ecological engineering and explore practices in sustainable ecological design by carrying out a hands-on experimental design project with field microcosms/meocosms in a newly established Wetland Mesocosm Compound on the campus. This course will involve a field trip (1-2 days). Offered by Biology . Limited to three attempts.
