Catalog description

This course will present the basic properties (biochemical, mechanical, and structural) of the different type of biomaterials used in medicine (polymers, metals, and ceramics) and introduce the specific techniques used to characterize these properties. This course will also cover the behavior of biomaterials and the biological response induced upon interaction with biological systems. This course will emphasize the multidisciplinary nature of biomaterials science and their importance in modern medicine with chosen examples ranging from drug delivery to orthopedic applications. Offered by Bioengineering . Limited to two attempts.
