This course examines theories and practices of art (including creative practices such as dance, music, performance, visual art, and multidisciplinary artistic approaches) as a form of public pedagogy. It is specifically designed for artist-educators who aim to leverage their artistic skills and perspectives to promote learning, dialogue, and social change in public settings. The course will explore art as an educational tool across diverse environments, including community spaces, galleries, print and digital media, museums, and other public venues. Through readings, discussions, case studies of successful public art and educational initiatives, and hands-on project development, participants will build a solid framework in artistic research. This framework will enable them to utilize their artistic practices as effective forms of public pedagogy. Offered by School of Art . May not be repeated for credit.
