Catalog description

Business Basics for Creatives equips artists with the analytical tools, business literacy, and strategic frameworks necessary to sustain creative work across commercial, nonprofit, and public sectors. The course approaches entrepreneurship not as a onetime startup event, but as a lifelong, adaptive professional practice. Students engage both reflective inquiry and applied skill-building in business models, legal structures, contracts, intellectual property, budgeting, taxation, and long-term financial planning. Through scaffolded assignments, analytical writing, and applied labs, students critically examine the role of business knowledge in artistic careers while constructing a personalized framework for long-term creative sustainability.Offered by Arts Management.
