Course examines key ethical and legal issues for entry level professionals in data science and analytics. Topics include Intellectual Property, Privacy, Algorithm Bias, Free Speech, and Commercial data exploitation. Students will examine and discuss case studies and assigned readings on these topics, examine the ethical basis and practices of Big Data Analytics. Students will be expected to identify and report on technical, legal, and ethical issues with the use of big data and to discuss the appropriate laws, policies, and ethical frameworks which might be used to resolve them.
