This Honors-enhanced course is a survey of British history from 1707 to the present, emphasizing the role of prime ministers as well as monarchs; the development of foreign policy and naval power; the evolution of science, religion, education, literature, painting and architecture; the changes brought about by industrialization and two World Wars; the growth of the welfare state; the rise and fall of the British empire; and the rise and fall of Brexit.
