Term hours: 54 lecture. This course is an introduction to the field of Asian Pacific American Studies. An interdisciplinary approach is employed to study the experiences of various Asian and Pacific Islander groups in the United States utilizing the perspectives of race, nationality, class, gender, and sexuality. The course covers the development of Asian Pacific American Studies as a field of academic inquiry as well as topics pertaining to Asian Pacific American communities including immigration, racialization and citizenship, anti-Asian exclusion and stereotypes, labor, creative production, and social movements. (UC/CSU, AA GE, CalGETC).
