54 hours lecture per term. This course is designed for first-line, new, or future managers covering the skills required to effectively supervise and manage employees in organizations. This class emphasizes the supervisors' need for a working understanding of the functions of management and the practical supervisory skills relating to employees, work teams, workplace diversity, ethics, and special concerns. Topics include the role and function of supervisors, recruitment and evaluation of workers, task delegation, motivation, employee discipline, training and professional development, conflict management, labor relations and legislation, communication, employee safety, and time management.
