Franklin W Olin College of Engineering · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course introduces the fundamentals of embedded software, specifically on how software interfaces directly with hardware. Although the focus will be on bare-metal development, we will also be introducing real-time operating system (RTOS) as it is quite relevant to the industry. Through hands-on labs and projects, students will work with sensors and communication protocols and learn debugging techniques. By the end of the course, students will be able to design, implement, and debug functional embedded applications that integrate hardware and software.
