Catalog description

This course examines the development of children with special needs and prepares caregivers to integrate children with special needs into child development settings. This course requires students to spend a minimum of 30 hours at a licensed childcare/education setting. CDEV/EDU 2640* 3 credits Curriculum Development This course provides an advanced level exploration of curriculum planning and management skills for the Pre-K to 3rd grade level. Students will integrate their knowledge of developmental needs, developmentally appropriate environments, practices, curricula and teaching methods to organize, implement, and evaluate quality, comprehensive curricula. Curricula models from both within and outside the United States will be explored. (Prerequisite: EDU Students: CDEV 1210 and HLTH 2100) CDEV 2810* 3 lab credits Practicum II This course provides an opportunity to apply knowledge and skill in an early childhood setting. Students implement a variety of learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate for and culturally sensitive to a specific age and group of children. Requires instructor permission. ECONOMICS The mission of the Economics department is to provide students with an opportunity to be trained in economic skills adaptable to the needs of business in our society. Students will be provided with the basic economic knowledge, analytical, and communication skills necessary in the business world.
