This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of soil science, emphasizing soil formation, classification, and management with a focus on the soils of Southwest Florida. Students will explore soil physical, chemical, and biological properties, and their implications for agriculture and environmental sustainability. Laboratory and field components include soil sampling, classification, mapping, and a visit to the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD).
