INTRO TO CARDIOVASCULAR TECH

Catalog description

This course provides an overview of the profession of Cardiovascular Technology (CVT), including the subspecialties such as invasive and non-invasive cardiology. Students will be introduced to the historical development of the profession, current trends, and various career paths within the field of CVT. As well as an overview of the different national accrediting bodies, and key professional organizations, including the credentialing, licensure, and registration process. Students will explore basic patient assessment skills, medical terminology related to cardiology, and concepts of HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control.
