Introduction to concepts, theories, and research methods in the sociology of marriage and family. Review of historical and current trends, including family structures, romantic relationships, cohabitation, marriage, childbearing, parenthood, gender, sexuality, aging, work-family issues, and inter-generational care giving. Analysis of patterns, causes, and consequences related to individual choices, social interactions, institutional influences, and policies regarding relationships and families.
