Phonetics is the study of speech sounds. Phonology is the study of the sound system of a language. In this class we are particularly interested in how the speech sounds of American English are made, and how we use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to represent sounds but we also will look at the science behind the production of speech sounds.
