Considers the role and function of the audience in conjunction with the symphony, opera, and ballet. Historical readings cover what audiences were like in the Classical Period, Romantic Era, and the Twentieth Century, and major masterworks of those time periods are discussed. The modern audience is considered by discussing recent publications in various mediums and attending two live concerts.
