Studies how factors such as poverty, population, technology, resources, trade, and the environment affect the human effort to develop. Discusses the roles of the public and private sectors as well as the process of policy formulation and implementation. Emphasizes the agricultural sector and its role in the process of economic development, especially in countries where problems of hunger, demographic pressure, and poverty are pervasive.
