Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the science of reasoning. It will examine such concepts as inference, validity, soundness, deduction, induction, counterexample, and fallacy (formal and informal). The discussion will use arguments in natural language, Aristotelian (categorical) logic and, optionally, propositional logic. Predicate logic will not be covered. This is a humanities distribution course.
