Catalog description

This course introduces the allied health student into the principles of human nutrition and the relatedness of nutrition, health, wellness, and disease. It focuses on the dietary goals, food pyramid, and recommended allowances. Nutritional risk factors and related diseases are examined. The influence of psychosocial and cultural issues is also considered. The interaction of drugs and nutrients, and of nutrition and somatic diseases, is analyzed.
