Catalog description

This class introduces students to the technical elements required to produce a theatrical production. The class strives to develop the technical skills and practical know-how to enable the student to work successfully backstage and to understand the technical glossary of terms that working professionals use on a daily basis. The course will introduce the student to the following technical areas: Basic audio/visual and multimedia applications of a production, backstage etiquette, scenic styles and scene change choreography, lighting, sound, properties and costume. The class will also introduce the student to the business applications of Entertainment Technology, including job opportunities, unions and entrepreneurship, This class will give the student the foundation to succeed in the Entertainment Technology Program and the advanced classes.
