Catalog description

The two functional anatomy courses introduce the phenomenon of human motion and function within the context of occupational performance. The first Functional Anatomy courses provide the student with the foundation for understanding motor skills necessary to perform activities and how impairment may impede function. This course delves into the intricate anatomy, biomechanics, and therapeutic interventions of the upper extremity, with a focus on the shoulder complex, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. Students will also explore posture, balance and functional mobility and its impact on occupational performance. The course is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills essential for assessing, treating, and educating patients in various clinical settings. The students will develop skills in assessment procedures including goniometer measurements, manual muscle testing, sensation testing, and assessment of posture.
