Catalog description

This course is designed to orient the student to the structure and function of the human body as it applies to phlebotomy, professional communication and interpersonal skills. The student will be able to demonstrate necessary skills and knowledge to perform phlebotomy while practicing standard precautions, infection control, quality assurance and safety. This course also introduces the student to the origin and morphology of blood cells. Normal and abnormal functions of the blood cells will be covered. The student will also receive instruction both in the laboratory and lecture as to the proper collection, testing and significance of laboratory blood tests.
