This course explores Deaf culture by examining the history, language, values, traditions, norms, and identities within the Deaf community. Topics include historical and contemporary perspectives and issues within the Deaf community. Course content is relevant to professionals seeking to expand their knowledge of diverse cultures or who serve members of the Deaf community in industries such as human resources, education, social services, healthcare, emergency services, and mental health. No prior experience with American Sign Language needed.
