Catalog description

This course will familiarize students with an overview of UAS power systems and concerns. Students will become familiar with various power sources, such as reciprocating and turbine engines, electric motors and batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, solar, and hybrid combinations of these. Students will learn the benefits and drawbacks to each power source, how to best maintain that power source over time, and the dangers associated with each system. For battery powered systems, currently the most common, students will understand charging, recharging, battery drain, and refurbishment (where possible).
