Catalog description

This course establishes the foundation for students to transition into the role of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Students will gain insight, analyze, and apply best practices in the provision of quality health care to patients addressing basic human needs, infection control, principles of medication administration and safety. Students will explore the legal and ethical aspects of the LPN as it is applied to the healthcare delivery systems, integrating current patient trends such as cultural and religious sensitivity; communication techniques; and psychosocial concepts. HIV/AIDS education and certification will be addressed within this course.
