Catalog description

Biophysics is an interdisciplinary subject that applies physics principles to biological systems. Topics selected from diffusion, ligand binding and the Boltzmann factor, osmosis, single-file diffusion, ion channels, aquaporins, solute blocking and ideal solution thermodynamics, entropy and the second law, kinetic theory of gases, Sturm-Liouville problems, equilibrium distributions and entropy, random walks and diffusion, partitioning and membrane permeation. Computational methods including finite-difference methods, molecular dynamics, fluid dynamics, and Monte Carlo simulations. Topics from thermal and statistical physics.
