Catalog description
This is a course for educators who work with migrant students, multilingual learners, and/or diverse learners. The course focuses on California State Standards and curriculum frameworks. In this course, students will examine, explore, and analyze the history of bilingual education and its impact on educational opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse students in the U.S. Topics include the socio-political debates surrounding bilingual education, the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students, and second language acquisition theory and teaching strategies.
