Trends and Issues in Teaching ESL

Catalog description

This course explores trends and legal and cultural issues involved in ESL teaching. Students understand how cultural groups and individual cultural identities affect language learning and school achievement. Additionally, students gain knowledge of history, research, educational public policy and current practice in the field of ESL teaching to apply this knowledge to inform teaching and learning, and to serve as community resources and advocate for ELLs. This course is cross-level listed with TESL 541.
