Catalog description

The basic objectives of this course are to cover procurement and its functionalities, differences in procurement systems, and approaches in these areas. Procurement variables (e.g. quality, quantity, time, price, and source) are discussed in detail. Relationships with suppliers and impacts on procurement systems are also covered. Students will learn how to perform all basic purchasing functions, manage global sourcing activities, establish an effective purchasing system, identify the best suppliers, work in teams on purchasing activities, identify how purchasing impacts company profitability, and manage e-procurement processes. This course is cross listed with MGMT 494 .
