Climate Change and Public Policy

Global climate change is one of the most important issues of the 21st century and requires consideration from an interdisciplinary perspective. This course introduces students to the empirical and normative challenges posed by global climate change, as well as the politics associated with its impacts on environment, economy, and society at local, regional, and international levels. It covers discussions on the science of climate change, the impacts of human activities on climate change, and responses to climate change through mitigation and adaptation. The course also addresses the international legal and policy framework, assesses the roles and efforts of international organizations and intergovernmental collaborations, and evaluates climate change policy and its implementation options. This course is cross listed with ENEC 270/POLI 270 .
