The basic objectives of this course are to cover procurement and its functionalities, differences in procurement systems and approaches in these areas. Procurement variables e.g. quality, quantity, time, price, source are discussed in detail. Relationship with suppliers and its impacts on procurement systems are also covered. The students will learn how to perform all basic purchasing functions, manage global sourcing activities, establish an effective purchasing system, identify the best suppliers, work in teams on purchasing activities, identify how purchasing impacts company profitability, manage e-procurement process. This course is cross listed with SCMT 494 .
