Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to the field of business analytics, which has been defined as the extensive use of big data, statistical and quantitative analysis, exploratory and predictive models, and fact-based management to drive decisions and actions. Various data visualization techniques using Microsoft Excel are discussed. Linear regression model, time series analysis and forecasting models are addressed in detail. Different data mining techniques such as cluster analysis, association rules, classification and regression trees are introduced using various tools including SAS Enterprise Miner and/or JMP Pro. Spreadsheet modeling and Monte Carlo Simulation are illustrated using Microsoft Excel. Basics of decision analysis will be presented. Students actively participate in the delivery of this course through case and project presentations. This course is cross-listed with HIT 380 .
