Catalog description

This course focuses on the relationships between healthcare quality, risks, operational objectives, and performance. Students will examine the business implications of legal and regulatory compliance strategies in health administration. Course concepts include credentialing, licensing, certification, accreditation requirements of health care professionals, consent, legal reporting, and professional liability, as well as federal and state statutes, regulations, and specific mandates. Implications of non-compliance with privacy and security of patient information, labor and financial regulations, and incentives will be discussed.
