Diversity in Aging

Catalog description

Introduction to the process of aging in minority populations. The course provides an overview of the process of aging among minority groups in populations, especially in the United States. The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge of varied status, attitudes, and experiences of older adults of members of minority groups. Social policies, services, and practices as they affect older minority person’s well-being will be explored. Focus will be placed on African Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, and Native Americans.
