Catalog description

Sociolinguistics is the study of language in society, including dialectology, gender issues, politeness, language policy, and pedagogy. Pragmatics is the study of communication in context, including deixis, implicature, speech acts, metaphor, and other tropes. This course is cross-level listed with ENGL 509.
