This course examines the technical, material, and symbolic dimensions of color as a framework for understanding the global phenomenon of colorism, including its systems of discrimination, preference, and rhetorical expression. It also considers how discursive constructions of color—what societies deem worthy of study or visibility—shape knowledge itself. By integrating these concepts, the course advances a rhetorical analysis of color as a formative element in human experience and global ecosystems.
