Catalog description
This course is a comprehensive overview of cloud security and web security. The goals of the course are to build an understanding of cloud service models and cloud security as well as an understanding of the common web attacks and their countermeasures. Given the pervasive insecurity of cloud and web landscape, there is a pressing need for future developers and system designers to improve their understanding of cloud and web security issues. Both the fundamentals as well as the practices will be covered. Topics include discussions on cloud infrastructure; characteristics of cloud platforms; common cloud service models and common deployment modes; cloud practicum; security implication of cloud resources; principles of web security; attacks and countermeasures; browser security model; threats and web app vulnerabilities; web application security consortium and Open Source Web Application Security Project (OWASP); and securing mobile communications
