Nursing in the Faith-Based Community

Catalog description

Through a blend of theoretical exploration and practical methodologies, nursing students will gain a comprehensive foundation essential for effective faith-based community nursing practice. This course provides a theoretical framework for the understanding of the ethical, sociological, organizational, political, and legal components of community risk reduction. This course examines concepts and principles of community risk assessment, planning and response to natural and human-caused disasters, training and preparedness, mass casualty incidents, and disaster mitigation for individuals, families, communities, and populations. Students must successfully complete all requirements of both didactic and clinical courses. Failure of one course will lead to a repeat of both the didactic and clinical courses. Offered every fall and spring.
