Catalog description

Topics for this course include random variables, discrete, continuous and joint probablity distributions,parameter estimation, maximum likelihood estimation, suficient statistics, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, type I and type II, errors, distributions such as the normal distribution, Poisson, gamma, beta, chi-square, Student’s t and F distribution and inferences based upon the normal distribution. Students are expected to be able to reproduce and apply theoretical results and carry out some standard statistical procedures on case studies.  Offered spring semester of odd years.
