Catalog description

This course introduces students to the world of women and women’s patronage in ancient Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Eastern Mediterranean cultures through the study of art and archaeology. Surveys of visual representations of women leaders from the 3rd millennium BCE to Late Antiquity emphasize the manifold contributions made by women of power in ancient societies. Prerequisite(s): Qualification for Presidential Scholars program or GPA 3.5 and above and permission from the dean.
