Catalog description

This course concentrates on the history of new artistic practices, schools, and workshops that began with decolonization movements across the continent of Africa, but have extended beyond them to explore contemporary themes. Through lectures, readings, videos, and museum/gallery visits, we will explore the art of 20th- and 21st-century Africa. Prerequisite(s): Any HA course.
