Catalog description

This course examines the development of American theatre from the 18th through the 21st centuries. It includes a study and analysis of the special problems affecting the development and changes in American society as seen through American playwriting and theatre production. Students read and see over fifteen plays that grapple with issues of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and what it means to be an American. The course includes theatre trips.
