This course explores the history and practice of unconventional thinking within the Jewish tradition. It examines why and how individuals and societies challenge norms; break boundaries, and innovate within - and sometimes against - their cultural and religious frameworks. We will look at ancient biblical figures and modern innovators, tracing how generations of Jews developed creative strategies for survival, adaption, and influence. Through readings, discussions, and hands-on exercises, you will learn to identify what enables or limits original thought in different cultural settings and to experiment with your own ways of thinking unconventionally.
