Catalog description

This course examines various psychological principles underlying sport, exercise and high performance.  Emphasis is placed on both theoretical foundations (e.g., personality, motivation, stress, anxiety, arousal, attribution, neuropsychology and mental health) and empirically-based applications (e.g., mindfulness, imagery training, self-talk and goal-setting techniques) to achieve peak performance, reduce anxiety, enhance mental skills, improve self-efficacy, and increase self-confidence to achieve optimal performance for those in high-performance domains, such as athletes, musicians, dancers, business leaders and military personnel.
