Catalog description

This course primarily examines the political belief systems in the United States including conservatism, liberalism, democratic socialism, and others. It analyzes these "isms" with reference to democracy's ability to deal with the contemporary problems of American society. It also racism, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and the basic political and economic ideas of Marx and Engels and the modifications made to their system by Lenin.
