This course explores the principles of light and its interaction with matter, focusing on the physics underlying color perception and its applications in art and technology. The course examines topics such as the nature of light as electromagnetic waves, optics, and the electromagnetic spectrum. Students will analyze the formation of colors in natural phenomena, materials, and artistic contexts, such as painting, photography, and digital media. Students will also learn how light theories evolved. Activities and demonstrations will provide opportunities to investigate light and color phenomena (e.g., illusions, diffraction), enhancing our understanding and appreciation of the visual and artistic world.
