Catalog description

This course will serve as an introduction to Contemporary Black Feminisms. Readings will provide occasion to discuss the history of black feminism, black feminist epistemologies and praxis, and black feminist theory. We will consider the reception of these concepts in the U.S., exploring especially race but also gender as central to the development of and resistance to western forms of thought.
