Applications of Theory of Elasticity

Catalog description

This course covers theory of elasticity (stress, strain, and generalized Hooke's law), strain energy methods (Castigliano's theorem), thin shells of revolution (equilibrium equations, pressure vessels), thin plates (rectangular and circular plates, moment-curvature relations), beams of elastic foundations and buckling. Students are required to complete a group project on an advanced topic covered in class and write a research report. Undergraduate equivalent: MEEG 4372 .
